Memorial Day Weekend Bloghop

Welcome to the Paper Spa - if you are participating in the Operation Write Home Memorial Day Weekend Bloghop then I hope you find great inspiration both here and as you visit other blogs along the way.
To get your inspiration going - or keep it going - I encourage you to join in on the weekly sketch challenges offered on the OWH Stars and Stamps blog (you either started there, or will end up there) I used one of the weekly sketches on this first card. I used patriotic colors for inspiration - Stampin' Up's Real Red, Brilliant Blue and Georgia Pacific's White Cardstock. I cut a strip of the brilliant blue and ran it through my CB using the Stars folder. I stamped the Nesties label cut with brilliant blue using this sentiment stamp from Sweet Impressions. I used brilliant blue around the edges of the label and popped it off the card.
I am also participating in the Wish Rak Memorial Day Card Challenge on the Splitcoast Stampers site. The cards that are created for these challenges will be sent to OWH.
This next card fits the third challenge which was to create a card where the design is uncluttered and there is lots of 'white' space. It was also to be a 'missing you' card. there is an additional challenge in that all the cards/items made for the challenges have to be made using items received from other wishrak members. I received a bunch of cardstock this week - so I used the brilliant blue and the red nesties label from my stash of wishrak items.
I enjoy making cards for OWH - but more than anything, I appreciate the sacrifices that these young men and women make each and everyday so that we can enjoy our freedoms. We all know people who have served/are serving - but let us not forget that many have given the ultimate sacrifice - their very lives. I want to thank the families of those that lost their lives so that we can enjoy our freedoms today. May American's today never forget those who gave their lives.
Thank you for stopping by the spa today - I hope you have found inspiration and encouragement. My challenge to you is to create a card following the challenge above and post a link in the comments - at the end of the hop I just might have some blog candy for one lucky hopper.

Now, on you go to the next blog - Lindsey's Scraps where you just might find some scrapbook inspiration as well as cardmaking.

Memorial Day Weekend Happenings

Wow - can you believe that the month of May is almost gone! Where did it go??? May is ALWAYS a busy family month for our family - with birthday's every week, Mother's Day - mine was OH SO EXCELLENT this year - my kids all treated me so kindly and I am blessed.
Anyway - here we are at the end of the month - and it is Memorial Day weekend. I will have to work on Saturday and Sunday - but, I still plan on participating in a bit of Stamping cheer.
I am taking up the challenge on the Splitcoast WishRAK site to make cards for the troops. *^^* Memorial Day 2010 ~~ Cards for the Troops Challenge *^^*
The challenges will be posted shortly and will run for a week. The idea is to make cards according to the challenges - I think there will be 12 posted and then send them to Kris (one of the shippers for Operation Write Home)
Won't you join me? I KNOW that OWH and the troops will so appreciate the cards.
If you are interested in participating - leave me a comment.

In the meantime - relax, sip your favorite beverage and enjoy the moment.

Busy Spa Days!!

Just in case you didn't know, I actually work at a spa - I am a massage therapist and we have been VERY busy lately - so much so that I have not had much time to make cards for OWH lately. HOWEVER, I did gather about 70 cards together - some remakes, some new, some AnyHero cards and sent them off for the Elle's Studio Challenge - which was to make cards and send them to OWH - in return, the chance to win a $30 gift certificate to the Elle's Studio online store - so, guess what? I won!! I will take a picture of the goodies I ordered and post them for you all to see.

Thanks for stopping by - and come back soon to see what I have been creating.
